What is it?
A word wall is a collection of words which are displayed in large visible letters on a wall, bulletin board, or other display surface in a classroom. The word wall is designed to be an interactive tool for students and contains an array of words that can be used during writing and reading.

Why is it important?
Word walls serve as a great, interactive tool in the classroom for teaching students high frequency words/emphasized words. The words are blatantly displayed and can be studied and moved around whenever. The words can display root words, prefixes, suffixes, phonemes, and so much more through the use of underlines and highlighters. Word walls are a constant source of knowledge that does not cause stress or frustration.
