Word Solving
What is it?
Strategies used by children to audibly or visually decode a word.
Why is it important?
Through the teaching of word solving methods and strategies, a student has a plethora of ways to discover an unknown word, whether that unknown word be written or spoken aloud. Word solving creates successful, independent readers and writers. Quite frankly, complete and utter literacy may never be achieved within a child if they do not have any knowledge of how to solve words.
